May 9 Event Will Honor Rabbi Zvi and Dr. Efrat Sobolofsky, Dr. Barry and Marcia Levinson, and Dr. Daniel and Michelle Berman
On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, the (RIETS), will hold its annual Gala Evening of Tribute at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New app City.
As in past years, the dinner will acknowledge a number of people for their contribution to and support of the RIETS mission, including two guests of honor (Rabbi Zvi Sobolofsky and Dr. Efrat Sobolofsky) and four parent honorees (Dr. Barry and Marcia Levinson and Dr. Daniel and Michelle Berman).
“The Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary plays a critical role in shaping its students, their families and the Jewish community at large,” said Rabbi Menachem Penner, Max and Marion Grill Dean of RIETS. “The gala dinner is an opportunity to celebrate its global impact.”
Rabbi Zvi Sobolofsky ’87YC, ’90R, ’96A is currently a Rosh app at RIETS. He also serves as the spiritual leader of Congregation Ohr HaTorah in Bergenfield, New Jersey, and lectures at the Bergen County Beis Medrash Program housed at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun in Teaneck, New Jersey. He has over 5,000 shiurim on .
Dr. Efrat Sobolofsky ’95W, ’06W is director of , a relationship-building program which recently celebrated its 321st engagement. She also serves as the coordinator of respite services at the Jewish Association for Developmental Disabilities in Paramus, New Jersey.
Dr. Barry and Marcia Levinson live in Highland Park, New Jersey, and are the parents of Eliron and Aviyam, both 2017 graduates of RIETS. Dr. Daniel and Michelle Berman live in New Rochelle, New app, and are the parents of Reuben ’13R and Aaron '20R. Their son-in-law, Dubbin Hanon, will be a 2019 graduate of RIETS.
The evening will also feature a tribute to the memory Rabbi Meyer Kramer ’40YC, ’41R ”l. Born in Belarus, he pursued dual careers as a rabbi and lawyer in the United States, and upon retiring became director of publications for the American Law Institute – American Bar Association. His son, Rabbi Doniel Kramer, a YU Guardian, established the Rabbi Meyer Kramer Rabbinic Fellowship six years ago.
