Beloved Stern College Bible Professor Passes Away at 91
Rabbi Dr. Moshe Meir Havazelet, longtime professor of Bible and midrash at, passed away on May 29, 2018 at the age of 91.
Dr. Havazelet was a charismatic and much-beloved professor with advanced degrees in Hebrew literature and philosophy. His works include Ha-Rambam ve-ha-Ge'onim (Surah Publications, 1967) and Midrash Ha-Hefetz (translation and commentary of Mossad HaRav Kook, 1990), as well as numerous scholarly articles. His dedication to his students was legendary, and his contribution to the growth and development of Stern College in its formative years was crucial.
His wife and son predeceased him, and he is survived by three loving children and six grandchildren. May they find comfort among all who mourn for Zion and Jerusalem.
